Google Sheets Integration
Let your AI agent read, write, and format Google Sheets, and export chat conversations to a spreadsheet.
Connect Google Sheets to your Chipp AI app so your agent can work with spreadsheets in chat, and so you can export conversations to a spreadsheet.

Connecting Google Sheets
In your app’s builder, navigate to the Brain section and select the Integrations tab. Find Google Sheets in the list.
Click Connect, sign in to your Google account, review the permissions, and click Allow.
Both use cases below need this connection.
Use Case 1: Agent Tools
Once connected, your agent gains these tools:

Try asking: “Add a row to my leads sheet with this customer’s name and email” or “Read the Q3 tab and total the revenue column”.
Use Case 2: Export Chat Logs
Export conversations to a Google Sheet for analysis, record-keeping, or compliance. Only the workspace owner sees the Google Sheets export controls.
One-Time Export
In your app’s builder, go to Insights and select Conversations.
Above the conversation list, click the Google Sheets export button. Chipp creates a new spreadsheet named “Chat Export - (app name) - (date)” with a Chat Logs tab and opens it in a new browser tab.
After a successful export, Chipp turns on auto-sync to that spreadsheet, so new conversations keep arriving. One export writes up to 50,000 messages. Use the date filter to export the rest.
Auto-Sync to an Existing Spreadsheet
To sync into a spreadsheet you already have, click Auto-sync to Google Sheets on the Conversations page, paste the spreadsheet URL, and click Connect. The connected Google account must have edit access to the spreadsheet. Chipp syncs new chat logs every 15 minutes.
What Gets Exported
Each row is one message:

Very long messages are truncated to stay under the Google Sheets cell limit.
Chat export is not available when Zero Data Retention is enabled for the app’s organization. For volumes past the Google Sheets row limit, use Data Destinations to mirror conversations into your own database.
Managing Your Connection
Stopping Auto-Sync
On the Conversations page, click the disconnect icon next to the synced spreadsheet name in the Auto-sync bar. The spreadsheet and its data stay in your Google Drive.
Revoking Google Access Entirely
To completely revoke Chipp’s access to your Google account:
- Go to your Google Account Security Settings
- Find Third-party apps with account access
- Click on Chipp and select Remove Access
Switching Accounts
To use a different Google account, disconnect Google Sheets in Brain > Integrations, then connect again with the new account.
Troubleshooting
”Google Sheets Not Connected”
Connect Google Sheets in Brain > Integrations first, then retry the export.
”Permission Missing” or “Reconnection Needed”
Disconnect and reconnect Google Sheets in Brain > Integrations, and accept all requested permissions.
”Auto-sync is blocked”
The spreadsheet hit a permanent error (for example, the cell limit or lost edit access). Disconnect auto-sync and connect a new empty spreadsheet.
Data Not Appearing in Sheet
- Wait up to 15 minutes for the next sync
- Ensure your Chipp app is receiving conversations
- Check that the spreadsheet was not deleted or its edit access removed
Security & Privacy
- Encrypted tokens: All Google credentials are encrypted at rest
- Permissions: Chipp requests read and write access to your spreadsheets, plus read-only access to Google Drive so the agent can find and list spreadsheets
- Automatic refresh: Tokens are refreshed securely without requiring re-authorization
- You control access: Revoke access anytime from your Google account
