During the live session, we dove deep into the fundamentals of Reasoning AI, a significant advancement in how AI thinks and processes information.
Scott walked us through key concepts like:
- The difference between Linear and Reasoning AI
- The new RIPEN framework
- Shared interactive examples to get people building.
We explored how this technology represents a shift from pure computational power to thoughtful analysis - much like human reasoning.
Key Insights from the Workshop
A New Type of AI Has Emerged: Unlike traditional linear AI that builds responses one word at a time, reasoning AI can explore multiple paths simultaneously and reflect back to choose the best approach much like human thinking.
The Power of Time vs. Compute: One of the most fascinating shifts is that AI's power is no longer just about computational strength. With reasoning AI, the quality of results often comes down to how much time it spends thinking just like humans.
The RIPEN Framework: Scott introduced a new framework for working with reasoning AI:
Role: Define who the AI should be
Instructions: What you want it to do
Parameters: The do's and don'ts
Example outputs: How you want the information presented
Notes: Additional context and background
When to Use Different Types of AI
Linear AI: This is ChatGPT-4o and Claude Sonnet 3.5. It is best for known information, customer support, and one-to-many communications
Reasoning AI: This is Deep Seek and ChatGPT o1/o3. It is ideal for exploratory research, combining information from multiple sources, and deep thinking tasks
The Three Knowledge Types
World Knowledge: Public information AI can access
Personal Knowledge: Individual information that helps personalize AI interactions
Prepared Knowledge: Private information that provides competitive advantage
Privacy Considerations: The workshop covered different levels of privacy in AI tools, from basic best practices to fully private implementations, helping organizations make informed decisions about their AI usage.
Real-World Applications: We explored practical applications like competitive research, medical diagnosis support, and in-depth background research - showing how reasoning AI can be immediately valuable across industries.
What's Next? Keep Building and Learning with our Replay! π
Due to popular demand: We're hosting this same workshop again on Thursday, February 13th at 1 PM Central.
It's a perfect opportunity to dive deeper into reasoning AI and get your questions answered live.
