By observing how people manage AI-simulated team members, researchers can predict real-world leadership effectiveness with surprising accuracy. The most successful leaders weren't those who barked orders, but those who asked thoughtful questions and demonstrated conversational intelligence.
🌶️ AI can help train and measure effectiveness of employees. Instead of having a new sales person take sales calls to practice, they can use AI. And, as Mollick shows, leadership can practice as well!
Shopify CEO's Internal AI Memo Leaked
Greg Isenberg shared insights from Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke's leaked internal memo on AI implementation. The memo reveals a massive shift in thinking with the directive to "hire an AI before you hire a human" and treating AI as a baseline expectation for all employees.
🌶️ The headline from this was consider AI before humans. Definitely true. I think the memo was more nuanced. I would almost describe it as make sure we need a human to do that task. It seems clear that Shopify is already thinking about AI becomes a team member, something we all need to consider.
