> **Note:** "Apple Mail" and "my iCloud inbox" are the same thing from a setup perspective -- connect the **iCloud Mail** integration. Apple does not offer a public OAuth API for Mail, so this integration uses an app-specific password generated at [appleid.apple.com](https://appleid.apple.com) instead of a Google/Microsoft-style login popup.

## Connecting a mail provider


  **1.** 
    <strong>Open the Integrations tab</strong>

    In your app's builder, go to the **Build** section and select the **Integrations** tab.

    <strong>Pick your provider and connect</strong>

    Find **Gmail**, **Microsoft Outlook**, **iCloud Mail**, or **Proton Mail** in the list.

    - Gmail and Microsoft Outlook: click **Connect** and sign in through the OAuth popup.
    - iCloud Mail and Proton Mail: click **Connect**, enter the mailbox's email address, and paste in an app-specific password (iCloud: generated at appleid.apple.com; Proton: your Proton Mail Bridge / app password) -- your regular account password will not work here.

    <strong>Ask your AI to send an email</strong>

    Once connected, just ask in plain language, for example:

    - "Send an email to sam@example.com letting them know the report is ready"
    - "Email the team about tomorrow's meeting time change"

    Your AI will ask for anything it's missing -- typically the recipient, subject, and message body -- before it sends anything.
  


## What happens when you ask "Can you send email?"

Your AI checks its own currently connected mail capability and gives you a direct answer grounded in what's actually connected right now:

- **A send-capable provider is connected** (Gmail, Outlook, iCloud Mail, or Proton Mail): it answers "Yes" and asks for the recipient(s), subject, and body if you haven't already given them.
- **A mail account is connected, but only for reading** (for example, you've only granted read/search access): it tells you honestly that it can read, search, or draft for that account but can't send a brand-new email from it yet.
- **No mail account is connected**: it tells you plainly that no mail account is connected, and that connecting Gmail, Microsoft Outlook, iCloud Mail, or Proton Mail through **Integrations** would let it send on request.

Your AI never claims it can send email when it can't, and it never fabricates a generic "yes" without checking -- the answer always reflects the mail integration(s) actually connected to that app.

## Safety before sending

Connecting a mail provider does not turn your AI into an unsupervised auto-sender. Before any email actually goes out, your AI:

1. Confirms it has a recipient, subject, and message body -- asking you for anything missing.
2. Follows the same confirmation and permission checks used for every other sensitive action (for Gmail specifically, a first request always returns a preview -- nothing sends until you explicitly confirm).
3. Never invents recipient addresses, subject lines, or message content on your behalf -- it only sends what you actually asked for.

**Can you send with Proton Mail?**
