AI is moving quickly. 💨
Here are the highlights from the week that was in AI and Chipplandia and our spicy takes on what it actually means 🌶️:
AI Highlights from Around the Web
AI Chatbots Match Human Therapists in Clinical Trial
Exciting research from @theintellectus shows AI chatbots matching and sometimes surpassing human therapists in providing mental health benefits. The trial found depression scores were reduced by 8 points (51%) in 8 weeks!

🌶️ From education to counseling, the power of AI is apparent. AI will increase access to key services like therapy. A challenge will be blending this power with a human touch, which is often needed for accountability and provides a different level of empathy.
Aaron Levie: AI Agents Are The Big Topic for Enterprises
Box CEO Aaron Levie highlights that AI Agents are the #1 priority for IT leaders right now. Companies are navigating challenges like agent interoperability, permissions management, and compliance as they deploy AI at scale.

🌶️ This is the future of Chipp. Businesses have data everywhere and agents are an obvious way to retrieve, understand, and take action on that data. This thread captures the challenges and opportunities for businesses.
AI in Education Shows Dramatic Results
Derya Unutmaz shares how a Texas private school's implementation of an AI tutor helped rocket student test scores to the top 2% nationally. Students are learning "better" and "faster" with AI support.

🌶️ I’m dubious of the validity of these exact numbers but the point is well taken. AI is here. Those willing to experiment could see outsized returns. The challenge will be making it ok for educators to stick their neck out and try something different. And again, blending this power with teachers is the ultimate end goal.
Research Shows How AI Chatbots Impact Emotional Well-being
OpenAI and MIT Media Lab researchers released two groundbreaking papers investigating how interactions with AI chatbots affect people's social and emotional well-being. Their RCT study with ~1,000 participants over 28 days revealed fascinating insights:
- Emotional engagement with AI is rare for most users
- Voice interactions led to better self-reported well-being when used moderately
- Heavy daily usage was associated with lower measures of well-being
- User's initial emotional state significantly impacts their experience with AI

🌶️ I keep harping on this combination of AI power and human touch and this is why. People have a hard time connecting emotionally with an AI, and they might actually feel worse if they spend all day just talking to an AI. New features like voice can help, but this study points to the need to integrate AI with humans.
Chipp Highlights
Workshop Recap: How AI Can Understand Video
We had an amazing workshop last Thursday where Scott Meyer, co-founder of Chipp, and Cole Robertson, CTO and Co-founder of dScript, explored the exciting possibilities of AI and video understanding.
They demonstrated how AI can now analyze visual content, identify brand mentions, assess public speaking skills, and even monitor security footage all through Chipp!
ChatGPT's New Image Generation and the Future of Creativity
Scott shared insights about ChatGPT's new image generation model and what it means for creativity and graphic design. Unlike diffusion models (like Midjourney) that work like painters, ChatGPT's auto-regressive approach works more like an artist drawing with a pen building on what was previously created.
